Polymaker TPU Flexible Filament: Types, Characteristics, and Selection Tips

PolyFlex TPU90 — Maximum Softness
The softest filament in the PolyFlex™ line, created based on Covestro Addigy® family materials. With a Shore hardness of 90A and an elongation at break of 585%, it offers extraordinary elasticity that doesn't complicate the printing process thanks to a sufficient melt index. TPU90 holds an ISO10993 certificate, allowing its use in medical devices and skin-contact products. An added plus is good UV resistance. Available in 750g spools in five colors: black, white, grey, transparent, and teal.
PolyFlex TPU95 — The Universal Option
A filament with a Shore hardness of 95A, suitable for most tasks involving flexible materials. The degree of elasticity in the finished model can be adjusted via wall thickness and infill settings in the slicer. TPU95 is incredibly durable — stretching more than three times its original length without breaking. Available in 0.5 kg and 1 kg spools in classic shades, including red, yellow, orange, and blue.
PolyFlex TPU95-HF — For Fast Printing
"HF" stands for High Flow. This filament from the Covestro Addigy® family has a higher melt index than some PLA filaments, so it can be printed faster than most elastic counterparts. With correct printer settings, speeds can reach 100 mm/s or more without sacrificing overhang quality or retraction performance. Like TPU90, it is UV resistant. Available in 1 kg spools: classic colors (black, white, transparent) and translucent red.
Which Printer is Suitable for TPU Printing?
Polymaker strongly recommends using a 3D printer with a direct drive extruder. While you can experiment with a Bowden setup, the results will likely fall short of expectations, as elastic materials do not handle long feeding paths well.
